Mr Beast channel joins select few channels over 100 million

This week YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, better known to his fans on the video-sharing platform as Mr Beast, officially surpassed 100 million subscribers on his main channel

The achievement sees the YouTuber’s channel become one of just seven that have surpassed the milestone.

The other six channels are Indian music label and movie studio channel T-Series at 221 million, YouTube Movies at 154 million, Cocomelon – Nursery Rhymes at 140 million, Sony Entertainment Television India at 139 million, YouTube Music at 116 million and PewDiePie at 111 million

What was the first YouTube channel to hit 100 million subscribers?

The first channel on YouTube to reach 100 million subscribers was T-series.

The Indian music record label and film production company channel became the first channel globally to surpass the subscriber milestone in May 2019.

YouTube celebrated the T-Series channel in a video on Twitter by sharing a look-back at the channel’s achievements, from its first video to its most viewed post.

T-Series also commemorated its accolade on Twitter as it reflected on being the first channel to reach 100 million subscribers globally:

PewDiePie was the first YouTuber to do so

While T-series was the first channel to surpass 100 million subscribers on the video-sharing platform, PewDiePie was the first YouTuber to reach the milestone.

Three months after T-Series hit the milestone, PewDiePie followed as he became the first solo content creator to hit the subscriber achievement in August 2019.

Like the video-sharing site did following T-Series’ milestone, YouTube posted a video which looked back on PewDiePie’s time on the platform.

The following month after the YouTuber reached 100 million subscribers, he received his red diamond play button, which is awarded to channels and creators who have reached the subscriber achievement.
