Pete Williams retires from NBC News

After almost 30 years as a correspondent across NBC, Pete is stepping down from his role as he heads into retirement.

As a correspondent for the network, Pete has covered and reported on news across the justice department and US supreme court.

It was announced he had plans to retire in May. At the time, NBC News president Noah Oppenheim confirmed the news in a statement to employees via email and revealed Williams would be retiring in July.

While his colleagues on the Today show said their goodbyes to Pete on Friday as per Deadline, his last day will be on Sunday, July 31.

Williams’ stint at network spanned almost three decades

Over the years, Pete has become a familiar face to NBC News viewers, having covered some of the biggest breaking stories, including reports on the 9/11 attacks as well as the Boston Marathon bombing.

Pete joined the network in 1993 and this year celebrated 29 years as part of NBC. March 2023 would have marked 30 years since he joined.

The Casper, Wyoming, native started his broadcasting career in the 1970s in his home city as he worked as a reporter and news director at KTWO-TV and radio.

However, more than a decade on, he put his broadcasting career on hold as the correspondent went into politics. He became a press secretary and legislative assistant under then-congressman Dick Cheney.

In 1989 he was appointed assistant secretary of defense for public affairs under the then presidency of George H W Bush. He held the position for four years when he returned to TV through NBC.

Pete Williams’ net worth explored

Having become an established figure to NBC audiences during his almost three-decade-long stint at the network, it’s no surprise Williams is estimated to have a fortune in the millions.

Recent reports have evaluated the NBC veteran’s potential net worth to be about $1.5 million.

However, Digital Net Worth believes his fortune could be higher as the site approximates his net worth to be between $1 million and $4 million.
