Woman gets rejected for showing up to a date in her ‘natural hair’ color

Rejecting a date for misleading photos is not unheard of. But one man has become the center of online discussions after dumping a woman because of her natural hair color.

TikTok is full of worst-date stories. Recently, another dater went viral for sharing her experience of the “shortest date ever“, which only lasted for about 45 seconds. We’ve found another.

Woman rejected over hair color

You may have heard of people’s preference for a specific height, body type, or facial features. But TikTok user and former reality TV star Stephanie Matto’s dating experience with a man who was very specific about one feature is rather rare.

She shared on the video-sharing platform that she was rejected over her hair color, shedding light on the complexity of dating apps.

Stephanie matched with a conventionally good-looking documentary film-maker on Bumble and the two soon hit it off.

She says the “conversation was flowing” and they decided to meet after two days of chatting which she couldn’t be more thrilled about.

When the day finally arrived, she reached the restaurant before the unnamed dater and waited for him as his car pulled into the driveway.

However, his expression quickly changed after seeing her, which she described as “confused”. They hugged and entered the restaurant.

She knew something was “off” and while doing “small talk” over a couple of drinks, the man pointed out that her hair was blonde in her photos, while she had changed to brunette a couple of days before meeting him.

He didn’t hesitate to call her out on “misleading photos” while making it clear that he was only attracted to blondes.

People divided over dating preference

When Stephanie asked the man if he would not have gone on a date with her if she had her natural hair color, he chose to laugh it off.

She couldn’t wait for the date to end and never planned on texting him again, but much to her surprise, he sent her a long text the next morning only to reiterate his preference.

He said Stephanie “misrepresented” herself on her dating profile and he was only being transparent about his preference for blonde hair.

While several TikTok users think Stephanie was not to blame for changing her hair color as it isn’t a “big of a deal”, some users think the man wasn’t entirely at fault owing to his likes and dislikes.

When one user wrote: “You should have updated the pics, although it shouldn’t have been THAT big of a deal. Consider it a bullet dodged.”

“Sometimes people just like what they like, it’s fair for him to make that judgment based on your profile. If a guy sports a beard 90% of the time but only posts clean-shaven, I would be disappointed,” argued another.

A third person wrote: “He wants a Ford. You are a very attractive Chevy. Keep being yourself. Theres a Chevy lover looking for you.”
