Who owns Gettr? Jason Miller’s new social media app launched yesterday
A beta version of “non-bias social network” Gettr (stylised GETTR), launched yesterday, is now causing the public to wonder: Who owns Gettr, and what is the relationship between its founder, Jason Miller, and Donald Trump?
Following the decision made by Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to ban Donald Trump from their platforms, the former president launched From The Desk Of Donald Trump. But that succumbed to the pressure of the marketplace last month. Gettr is now attempting to fill that Trump-shaped void.
What is Gettr, and who owns it?
Gettr first appeared on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in mid June.
The Twitter-style social media platform describes itself as a non-bias social network for people all over the world. So, who owns Gettr?
Politico reports that Trumps team is behind the start-up; Variety says it was launched by Trumps ex-spokesman; Reuters and Bloomberg call the man behind new social media app Gettr a former Trump aide and former senior advisor.
- CULTURE: Which US president was born on the 4th of July?

The man behind Gettr is Jason Miller, an American communications strategist and political advisor.
Miller is the chief executive of Gettr, but the development company behind the app is Chainnov, Inc., established last year.
The app appears to have previously been called Getome. Currently, an app by that name, which also self-describes as a non-bias social network for people all over the world, and linked to GETTR USA, Inc, still exists on the Google Play Store.

Will Trump join Gettr?
Miller told Fox News in an interview that he hoped Trump would join, according to Reuters. But the former president is considering a number of options.
Trump told Dave Rubins Rubin Report podcast last week that hes looking at getting the right platform, a perfect platform.
And, he continued, I think youll see something fairly soon.
Despite the timing of his comments, Bloomberg News senior White House correspondent Jennifer Jacobs confirmed yesterday evening, via Twitter, that Trump would not be joining Gettr. Nor will he have any financial stake in the initiative.
