The correct way to store bread keeps it fresh for months, says food vlogger

Bread is a diet staple in most cultures, but not many know how to store it in the fridge, says a food vlogger.

It’s a common belief that bread must be consumed within two to four days as it usually goes stale when kept longer than that. But what if we said you could store it for up to three months while retaining the freshness?

Food vlogger show the correct way to store bread

Food vlogger Leah Llach urges never to store fresh bread in the refrigerator – she shows a better and more effective method.

She claims, that bread goes stale when left on the counter or in the fridge, so you must always store it in the freezer to retain its freshness.

There’s a way to do it. Pack the entire loaf in a zip lock pouch or cut it into slices. Place the plastic bag in the freezer to ensure the bread is fresh for up to three months.

The food vlogger suggests keeping the bread in the microwave at 250 degrees for a few minutes or tossing it in the toaster before eating.

Either way, the frozen bread will be as fresh as it was when just baked, claims Leah, who has been using this method for a long time.

When you should throw it away

While bread stored correctly in the freezer can stay fresh for a while, it can go stale within a week when preserved at room temperature forming mold.

If you thought cutting the mold off would make the bread suitable to eat, you couldn’t be more wrong. A doctor strictly advises against the common practice.

He says you should throw away the entire loaf as it’s almost impossible to gauge the area affected by mold owing to the “hidden roots”.

Some types of molds are known to produce toxins called mycotoxins, which are poisonous and can result in serious health issues.
