McDonald’s launches new popcorn flavor Coca-Cola that ‘tastes like a movie theater’

McDonalds customers in Germany can now drink Coca-Cola that has been flavored with popcorn, in a combo one happy customer has described as “like a movie theater”.

McDonalds combines Coca-Cola and popcorn for a moviegoers dream drink

If Coca-Cola, popcorn and movie theaters are inextricably linked in your mind, or indeed in the collective mind of the American populace, thats no accident.

Associations such as these are manufactured over time with the help of huge sums of marketing dollars. And sugar.

It may nevertheless be surprising, when you think about it, that popcorn-flavored Coca-Cola took so long to come around. Anyway, its here. Or rather, its there: in Germany. At McDonald’s.

Snackolator posted today about the crossover, challenging followers to name a better duo.

I love drinking some Coca-Cola with popcorn, reads the caption. So this makes sense, but then it also doesn’t make sense because it’s in the Coke itself!

The popcorn flavoring has 323 calories and a tooth-melting 80g of sugar per 100g. However, one serving is only about 13g, containing 42 calories and 10g of sugar. Its ingredients are sugar, water, natural flavoring, and caramel color.

It really tasted like a movie theater

Users have been commenting on Snackolators post promoting the new beverage flavor. Most are American, or at least not German, meaning they havent yet had a chance to try it.

However, one says he tried it this week in Germany, and found :really tasted like a movie theater,” and was surprisingly good.
