Can you drink moon water? Every way to use it for October full moon 2021
Witches and mystics are taking advantage of October’s full moon by concocting moon water, but how do you use it and can you drink it?
What is moon water?
As social media has grown, spiritual rituals have become more common #witchtok has become a leading trend on TikTok with more than 20.2 billion views. It includes content relating to crystals, tarot cards and astrology.
Moon water is a home-made concoction consisting of water charged by the moon’s energy. Some people believe it helps you keep in flow with the universe.
Mariah K Lyons, author of Crystal Healing For Women, claims the moon radiates female energy while the sun radiates male energy. When we use water that is charged, we absorb the feminine energy of the moon.
Apparently moon water can be made on any night, not necessarily a full moon. However, Healthline states theres no scientific evidence to support claims surrounding the concoction.
Moon water recipe
You’ll need a transparent glass jar or container, clean water, a pen and label, incense or sage, and anything you want to infuse it with for instance flowers, herbs or water-safe crystals.
- Cleanse the glass jar with incense or sage smoke (unless you’re planning to drink it), otherwise clean with normal water
- Fill your glass jar with water
- Add crystals or edible herbs or flowers
- Label the jar with the sign and phase the moon is currently in. According to NinePlanets, tonight’s (21 October 2021) moon will be waning gibbous in Taurus
- Repeat your intentions and affirmations into the water before leaving it in the moonlight, either outside or by a window.
Can you drink moon water?
Yes. It can be consumed but make sure the inside of your glass jar is clean and definitely not cleansed with incense, a TikTok user advises.
If you choose to drink it, ensure the jar is tightly sealed when leaving it outside to avoid bacteria entering and drink it within a day.
It has the same uses as normal water so advocates claim you can add it to your coffee or use it in cooking and even watering plants.

The water can also be used to clean crystals or in a diffuser with scented oils.
In terms of beauty, mystics advise putting moon water in a bottle with a spray nozzle so you can spritz your face during the day or combine it with other ingredients to make a relaxing pillow spray adding lavender could give a good nights sleep.
