7 Up rumored to be launching Shirley Temple soda

The news was shared by Instagram foodie Snackolator this week, who posts all the latest food and drink news from across America.

“Oh 7 Up is bringing the holidays to us in 2024 with a new SHIRLEY TEMPLE soda!” he wrote. “This will be available at retailers for the holidays.”

He shared a picture of the cans, which are a peachy pink color and say “Shirley Temple Pomegranate and Cherry Soda” on the front.

A Shirley Temple is made from grenadine, which is pomegranate juice and garnished with a maraschino cherry, so the soda recreates the typical flavors. While it is drunk all year round, many love to make the mocktail around the holidays.

It’s named after the famous American child actress Shirley Temple. The story says she was having dinner at a nice restaurant with her parents and other people in Hollywood who were all drinking cocktails, and the bartender made her a nonalcoholic version so she could join in too, 7 Up reveals.

The packaging is complete with a holiday present detail and the drink will supposedly be available in 12-pack cans, 2-liter bottles and 20oz bottles with a zero-sugar option too.

It hasn’t been confirmed by 7 Up right now, but the soda brand did reply to two comments on Snackolator’s post.

“Stop!!! We literally make Shirley Temples or dirty Shirleys every Christmas Eve!” one excited customer wrote, to which 7 Up mysteriously replied: “Now thats what you call a holiday tradition! When does the invite go out?”

The other person said the drink has unlocked a childhood memory, and 7 Up hinted that “those are the best memories”.

GRV Media and The Focus have reached out to the soda giant for comment.

A third person aded: “Going to need a pallet of this for the house.”
