Restaurant pouring chocolate all over your hands so you can lick it off called ‘disgusting’

Americans are saying a resturant went “too far” after a food influencer was forced to use her hands as a bowl for melted chocolate.

Despite the age-old mantra that we shouldn’t be playing with our food, we humans do love packing as much fun as possible into what is a nutritional necessity. If we’re not finding genius ways of making food in strange locations, we are combining two beloved snacks into one monstrosity of flavor. But now it seems one restaurant has gone too far.

The waitress poured chocolate on her hands

During a recent trip, travel and food influencer Mady (@mady_rich) was lucky enough to enjoy a meal at El Cielo, a Michelin restaurant by chef Juan Manuel Barrientos with three locations across the US.

Though most are used to seeing lavish restaurants with too many forks and prices to make you rethink whether the Big Mac is actually expensive, El Cielo takes a different approach with its immersive experience.

Though not confirmed by the original creator, Mady seemed to be enjoying the $197 tasting menu that is packed full of luxury small plates like caviar, blood sausage Macarons, and even bread served on a Bonsai tree.

In the clip, Mady could be seen holding her hands above a large marble-looking bowl. Just moments later, a waitress poured melted white chocolate over her hands, encouraging her to wash them like she would with water.

Would you try this? 👀👀 Honestly this was such a fun little experience. There was something so freeing about doing something which would typically be frowned upon in a fine dining setting and just enjoying the experience! The people over on youtube are in a tizzy over this one 😂 #foodies #finedining #lifestyle #restaurants #washingtondcfood

At the behest of the waitress, the influencer smelled the chocolate and then began to lick it off. She seemed to enjoy it, stating “It tastes really good.”

But it didn’t stop there. Soon enough, the waitress was back with a sprinkle of sugar and coffee. As you might expect, Mady was instructed to lick it off.

Suffice it to say that Mady’s video did not go down well with the TikTok audience despite amassing close to 500k likes and 11 million views.

“I swear this has to be a secret joke on the consumers,” one person questioned.

“I eat Michelin/interactive dining and tastings all the time and even I think this is them playing in your face,” another wrote, to which Mady replied, “I DONT eat Michelin star and interactive dining experiences all the time. This was actually a first for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it as a special occasion. So what did you get from putting me down?”

“I have a full-blown meltdown when my hands get sticky I absolutely could not,” someone else said.
