I have an ‘Everything Shower’ each week, and it’s the best form of self-care
The ‘Everything Shower’ is TikTok’s ultimate new self-care tip, and it’s something I’ve unknowingly been doing for years.
I was taking this extra special shower on a Sunday night long before it became a trend, and it’s the best part of my week.

What is an ‘Everything Shower’?
The TikTok trend is all about setting time aside to have a long shower, pamper yourself, de-stress and clear your mind. It involves doing “everything” you can in terms of self-care, like washing your hair, cleaning your body, exfoliating and shaving.
The whole thing starts long before you enter the shower, with steps like putting on a hair mask and lighting a candle happening prior. The Everything Shower then continues long after you get out of the bathroom too, with more steps like moisturising and drying your hair.
It’s the opposite of a quick rinse and can take hours to do the whole routine, which most choose to do once a week.
“Your girl definitely needs an Everything Shower immediately. I just came back from vacation and I need to feel refreshed and brand new,” one woman said in a viral video.
Her routine starts with putting oil in her hair, followed by exfoliating her legs and then using a multitude of products in the shower. After getting out, she moisturises her legs, does her entire beauty and facial skincare routine, and styles her hair.
The best form of self-care
I always have an Everything Shower each week and dedicating that ‘me time’ aside does wonders for my mental health.
After getting all my face, body and hair products out, I light a candle, put on some music and take a nice hot shower. Then, I leisurely moisturise my body, clean my face and spend time styling my hair without anything to rush for.
It’s something I look forward to, as it’s a few hours I have to myself to relax, unwind and de-stress after a busy week. Doing it on a Sunday helps me prepare for the coming week ahead too, and I do it alongside a weekly Sunday Reset.
Health expert Hana Patel told The Focus that showering and bathing is a great way to “reduce stress and anxiety”.
“Warm water and steam can have a relaxing effect on the body and can help to ease tension in the muscles,” she said.
It’s also essential to keep clean, as poor hygiene can “cause discomfort, skin complaints and infections, and can lower self-esteem”.
However, Patel advises that you only stay under the water for a maximum of 5 to 10 minutes, which is enough time to “cleanse and hydrate the skin”.
People on TikTok are obsessed with them too, with one person writing: “Everything Showers really are everything.”
“I love Everything Showers,” said another, while a third person added: “The best part of my week!”
Set some time aside for an Everything Shower this weekend – you won’t regret it!
