Who is Ziwe Fumudoh from Yearly Departed?
Fresh onto the New York comedy scene is Brooklyn-based Nigerian comedian and comic writer Ziwe Fumudoh.
Despite her youth, Fumudoh has made a name for herself as the creator of comedy show Baited With Ziwe. She also co-hosts a podcast for Crooked Media and has written jokes for Stephen Colbert.
Her comedy career began as an intern for Comedy Central, working on shows such as the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. She has also written for The Onion.
Additionally, Fumudoh has earned high praise from Forbes comedy writer Rosa Escandon.
Escandon writes that, “what is remarkable about Fumudoh is the way she takes the stage with a level of confidence fit for an actual pop star”.
Having originally studied poetry, Yearly Departed’s Ziwe Fumudoh moved swiftly into the comedy sphere. Working at the Onion, she explains, “was a crucial and pivotal moment for me and that’s why I am so into satire”.
