Where X-Files cast are now - Co-stars falling in love and Mulder wedding link

The X-Files premiered on 10 September 1993 and ran for nine seasons – 27 years later the show remains one of the most iconic FBI shows of all time.

The characters were missed so much in 2016 a tenth season was released and an 11th season debuted in 2018. Naturally, super-fans are wondering what the FBI agents who investigate paranormal activity are up to these days.

So, 202 episodes and two feature films later, let’s discover what the X-Files cast members are doing now…

X-Files cast now:

Gillian Anderson – Dana Scully

Anderson played FBI agent Dana Scully, who was Mulder’s sidekick and possible love interest as well as a doctor and scientist.

Gillian Anderson has remained in the acting industry since The X-Files. Most notably she has appeared in roles in Bleak House, The Fall and Sex Education. Anderson also appeared as Margaret Thatcher in The Crown in 2020.

Gillian has a daughter Piper, with ex-husband Clyde Klotz. She also has sons Oscar and Felix with ex-partner Mark Griffiths, who she dated until 2012.

David Duchovny – Fox Mulder

Fox Mulder is an FBI agent who believes in the existence of ET-like beings and thinks higher officials are hiding the truth about alien existence.

Following The X-Files, David Duchovny played Hank Moody in Californication, which earned him a Golden Globe, and Sam Hodiak in Aquarius.

Duchovny has since put his acting career on pause to focus on his music and love of writing. He has since released albums, Hell Or Highwater, Every Third Thought, and Gestureland.

Mitch Pileggi – Walter Skinner

The assistant director of the FBI is Walter Skinner – and he is Mulder and Scully’s top dog.

Following the X-Files, Mitch Pileggi went on to star in shows such as Stargate Atlantis, and Sons Of Anarchy. In 2021, he also appeared in the series Walker.

Pileggi and Arlene Warren married in 1996 and met through his X-Files co-star David Duchovny. Duchovny was his best man at their wedding and Warren even ended up working on The X-Files. She was initially a stand-in for Gillian Anderson but was later cast as Skinner’s secretary.

William B Davis – Cigarette Smoking Man

Davis’ character was The Cigarette Smoking Man who played a key part in the government conspiracy unit, the Syndicate.

After he left X-Files, William B Davis starred in TV series such as Robson Arms, Continuum, The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, The Tall Man and Upload. Aside from his own career, he founded an acting school – the William Davis Centre For Actors.

Robert Patrick – John Doggett

Robert Patrick played John Doggett, an FBI agent who pops up on the screen later in season 8. He becomes Scully’s partner after the disappearance of Mulder.

Since his role as Doggett, Patrick has landed roles in The Unit, Terminator 2, Scorpion, Perry Mason, and Honest Thief. Robert Patrick met his wife, Barbara Hooper, on the set of Behind Enemy Lines, aka Killer Instinct. In 2002, she appeared alongside Robert Patrick as Barbara Doggett in The X-Files.

Annabeth Gish – Monica Reyes

Monica Reyes, aka Annabeth Gish, is Doggett’s friend and fellow FBI agent.

Since X-Files, Annabeth Gish has had roles on The West Wing, Halt And Catch Fire, Brotherhood, The Bridge, and Sons Of Anarchy. Annabeth has put a slight pause on her acting career to spend time raising her two children, whom she shares with husband Wade Allen.

Steven Williams – Mr X

Steven Williams played the role of Mr X on The X Files, the informant to Fox Mulder who leaked classified government information. The actor is now 73 years old but, since X-Files, has featured in 21 Jump Street, The Equalizer, LA Heat, Linc’s, and Supernatural.

Interestingly, the actor has created an Instagram account that boasts more than 4,000 followers. On 10 August 2020, he posted his first official Instagram post on his account with the caption: “Happy Sunday Everyone!”
