The Book of Boba Fett has finally hit screens and premiered exclusively on Disney Plus. Everyone wants to know about the bounty hunter’s past, but more importantly, what happened to his appearance.

“Stranger in a Strange Land” revealed what happened to Boba Fett during the five years we lost between Return of the Jedi and The Mandalorian season 2, and it’s fair to say it left him wounded and weak.

The Book of Boba Fett answers the loose threads that fans have been burning to know since 1983’s Return of the Jedi. One big question on everyone’s mind is why Boba Fett is burned and looks so weak?

Why is Boba Fett burned and weak?

Boba Fett has likely been burned by the acid in the Sarlacc and the fire which he shot to escape the pit.

After Boba Fett escapes the Sarlacc his unconscious body is found by Jawa scavengers as they pick up the remains of Jabba’s barge in their Sandcrawler. Fett’s half-dead body is buried in the sand, and the scavengers then take off his armour. This means that he has no protection and is left to burn under the sizzling Tatooine sun.

Previous to this, as revealed in The Book Of Bobba Fett, he had burned his way out of the Sarlacc and used a dead stormtroopers oxygen supply to survive. As the story starts where Return of the Jedi ended we can see Jabba’s sail barge is in ruins and the audience is made to think that Boba Fett was eaten by the Sarlacc.

However, this is not the end for Fett, although badly burned and weak, The Book Of Boba Fett proves him to be determined and possibly invincible. It is no secret that the explosive escape from the Sarlacc left him in an awful state though, so let’s discover how he was nursed back to health.

The Book Of Boba Fett gives insight into characters injuries

The Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy of novels, further explained how Boba Fett survived his injuries following the escape from the Sarlacc. They revealed that Boba had some help from Dengar, who nursed Fett and got him back to full health. Aside from the visible burns and scars, of course.

Therefore, the deep scarring from his years of bounty hunting, surviving the Sarlacc and being burnt by the Tatooine desert are all contributions to his burns.

The difference between Fett in The Mandalorian season 2 finale’s post-credits scene versus The Book Of Boba Fett is significant. Boba Fett’s scars have been healed massively along with the appearance of his eyebrows. This is because he has had treatment from a bacta tank which provides healing and has given him eyebrows and reduced the appearance of scars.
