The Cube US premiered last night as contestants tried to beat the show’s assortment of difficult tasks. Hosted by NBA player Dwyane Wade, many have been wondering who’s behind the voice of The Cube and whether it’s the same person as the UK version.
What is The Cube?
The Cube is a game show that launched in the UK in 2009. The show sees contestants complete tasks within The Cube, with the challenges getting more difficult as they advance and win more money.
The game series aired for six years in the UK before it took a break in 2015. The show returned on-screen for a new series in October 2020.
In August 2020, Deadline revealed the popular game show would be going across the pond with a new host, NBA player Dwyane Wade.
The US version of the game show has a spin on the well-known UK version by giving Wade the chance to complete a task on behalf of a contestant.

Who is the voice of US The Cube?
Fans of the UK version of the show will know actor Colin McFarlane is the voice behind the popular series.
Away from The Cube he is also the voice of Mr Lion on Peppa Pig as well as JJ and Skip on Bob The Builder.
Amid the show’s move to the US, many have wondered whether McFarlane would continue voicing the show.
The actor confirmed he would be the voice of The Cube US earlier this month with his 22,800 followers on Twitter.
He wrote: “Catch me as the voice of the Cube USA. I am 2,000 cubic feet of intimidating! And @DwyaneWade as the host in this edge-of-your seat game show!

Who is The US Cube host, Dwyane Wade?
Wade is a former NBA basketball player renowned for being part of the Miami Heat team. During his 16-year career, he also played for the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Having retired from the sport in 2019, Wade went on to become an executive producer of the US version of The Cube before taking on the show’s hosting duties.
However, he has previously admitted he was hesitant to host the show. Talking to USA Today, Wade explained: “I decided to take the challenge because it was something I was a little afraid of doing.
“Once I got the chance to know the game, I was like, ‘Oh, we can really do some good here as well’. So it was a win-win.”
