Where was Sex Education filmed? The show’s third season debuts on Netflix this Sunday, 17 January. Let’s take a closer look at some popular filming locations for the hit series and discuss the brand new cast members.

What is Sex Education?

Sex Education is everyone’s favourite high-school drama. Set around the lives of students and teachers at the fictional Moordale High, the Netflix series follows teenager Otis and his friends as they navigate the highs and lows of dating and sexuality.

The cast includes Asa Butterfield in the main role, as well as Emma Mackay as Maeve, Ncuti Gatwa as Eric and Connnor Swindells as Adam.

Gillian Anderson will return as Otis’ sex therapist mother. We’re sure she will return with more fashionable, classy and scene-stealing outfits.

New cast for season three includes Harry Potter’s Jason Isaacs, who will play Peter Groff, the more successful brother of headmaster Groff. Jemima Kirke, best known for TV show Girls, will be taking the role of headmistress Hope after Mr Groff was removed.

Where was Sex Education filmed?

Sex Education series one and two were filmed predominantly in Wales – specifically Penarth, Caerleon and the Wye Valley.

Otis’ house is situated in the beautiful Wye Valley and some of the series is also shot in the Forest of Dean. You can even go visit the house used in the aerial shots of the series in Symonds Yat.

The setting of Moorfield school is filmed at the Caerleon campus in South Wales. The building used to be part of the University of Wales until 2016, when it closed down.

The school sits upon 32 acres and features 20th century brickwork.

The setting of the gym was filmed in Penarth in the Paget Rooms. Other locations include the Wireworks bridge in Tintern, which is used as the route that Otis and Eric take to school.

It appears that the same, or similar, locations were used for season 3 of Sex Education. The cast returned to film at the Caerleon campus despite some nearby buildings being demolished.

Behind the scenes photos are being shared on the Sex Education Instagram page.

We can’t wait to find out what season three has in store.
