This week marked 70 years since NBC’s TODAY first aired, with some fans noticing host Sheinelle Jones was absent from Friday’s celebrations.

Friday saw the TODAY show commemorate 70 years on-air following its first broadcast in 1952. Amid the celebrations, some viewers noticed Jones was absent from her on-screen duties, with some having since wondered where TODAY’s Sheinelle Jones is.

Sheinelle Jones misses out on TODAY’s 70 year anniversary celebrations

On Friday (14 January), the TODAY show celebrated 70 years on air as it looked back on its past and current anchors time on the show.

While some familiar faces appeared throughout Friday’s show, some viewers noticed TODAY’s third-hour host, Sheinelle Jones, was missing.

Her absence seemed to have caused concern among fans of the show as some took to Twitter as they wondered where the host was:

Where is Sheinelle Jones?

Sheinelle Jones is currently taking time away from her role on-screen on the TODAY show as she is on vacation in Dubai.

Jones updated her 358,000 followers on Instagram of her whereabouts earlier this week as she revealed she was celebrating a friends “milestone birthday”.

While she shared a series of snaps from her trip so far, she joked about how the “78 covid tests” were worth the “beautiful days & Magical nights in Dubai.”

A look at the TODAY host’s career

Sheinelle Jones has been a part of NBC’s TODAY for eight years this year, having first joined the network in 2014.

At the time, she joined Weekend TODAY, having previously anchored as part of Fox’s Good Day Philadelphia for almost a decade.

Over the years, Jones’ role expanded to also cover the third hour of the weekday TODAY show. However, the host stepped back from her weekend duties in 2019 and how has become a familiar face on the weekday TODAY broadcasts.
