Who is Janelle Burrell?
Janelle Burrell is best known to Philadelphia audiences as a morning and noon anchor on CBS Philly, also known as KYW-TV. Burrell, who currently anchors both Eyewitness News, This Morning and Eyewitness News at Noon, has been a part of the local station since 2019.
Before joining KYW-TV, the anchor worked as part of fellow CBS owned station WCBS in New York. During her six years there, she also helped launch CBSN, a digital channel for the station.
Elsewhere, Burrell is a Pen State University alum where she achieved her bachelors. She is also a Columbia University School of Journalism graduate where she completed her master’s degree.

Where is Janelle Burrell?
Anchor Janelle Burrell is currently absent from her role on CBS Philly as she recently underwent surgery to “address some health concerns.”
Burrell posted about her absence from the screen on Instagram to her almost 10,000 followers earlier this month, sharing a photo of herself from a hospital bed.
In the caption of the post, she assured worried fans that her surgery had gone well as she thanked the “fantastic doctors and their medical team” for taking care of her.

When will she be back on screen?
The anchor is yet to confirm a date for her return, although while addressing her absence on Instagram, she hinted she would be “back in a few weeks.” Therefore if Burrell does not return before the Christmas festivities, it’s likely she will be back on-screen in the new year.
Following her health update, Burrell has been active on Instagram and earlier this week shared a sweet throwback snap of her as a child on Santa’s lap.
Taking to the comments, fans of the anchor shared well wishes as they hoped her recovery was going well. One wrote: “You are so cute. Prayers for a quick recovery.” While another added: “Love it. Get well soon.”
