All My Children alum Walt Willey, who played Jackson Montgomery, asked his fans for prayers and well wishes as he underwent surgery on 13 April and, only a week later, we thankfully have a recovery update.
The day before his surgery Willey encouraged followers to: “Light a candle or however you may wish to send good vibes my way (no animal sacrifices, please!) as I meet this challenge.” We’re pleased to say the popular man of Pine Valley has overcome surgery and is currently in recovery at home.
There seems to be good news all round as we recently received news Willey’s former AMC co-star Vincent Irizarry, aka David, reported recent surgery to reduce swelling on his brain was also a success.

Walt Willey ‘humbled’ after undergoing surgery
Willey took to Twitter to tell followers he is “so grateful and humbled” by all their good wishes.
“I am happy to report the surgery was indeed successful,” Willey gladly shared. “I was discharged on Easter and am recuperating comfortably at home!” He then thanked everyone for the support he received during this “critical moment.”
Although Willey didn’t go into further details about what kind of surgery he underwent, fans are happy to hear it was successful and he’s recovering at home.
An outpouring of love and support came from his fellow daytime co-stars, including Alicia Minshew who plays Kendall. “Thinking of you and sending prayers, Walt,” she shared. Across the pond, Days Of Our Lives star Eric Martsolf (Brady) replied: “Good thoughts, my friend.”
Kassie DePaiva, who plays Eve on Days, wrote: “Here’s to a speedy recovery. God be with you.”
Who is All My Children star Walt Willey?
Willey’s big break came in 1986 when he landed the role of Jim LaRusso on NBC’s Another World before he joined Ryan’s Hope as Joe Novak. However, daytime soap fans will know him best as Jackson Montgomery on AMC. Who didn’t love his romance with Susan Lucci’s Erica Kane?
After the ABC soap was cancelled in September 2011, Willey went on to appear in multiple series including Thurston, Everyday Lies, and Gunslingers. He also played Gregory Ashford for three years on web series Tainted Dreams.
Fans are wishing Willey a speedy recovery and are desperate for him to return to painting. The creator recently opened Etsy store WaltWilleyWorkshop, where customers can buy his watercolour portraits or commission pieces.
