Who was Jamie Tarses from The Wilds?
Jamie Tarses was an executive producer on The Wilds.
Tarses started at NBC in the 1980s, with a wealth of credits including Friends, Mad About You, Frasier, and NewsRadio. When she left NBC, she then became the first female president of ABC Entertainment and after leaving there she continued to executive produce.
Amazon Prime Video’s The Wilds was the last show Tarses released before she had a stroke in 2020. This happened just a few weeks before Season 1’s debut leading it to premiere whilst Tarses was still in a coma. Sadly, she never fully recovered and Jamie Tarses passed away on 1st February 2021 at the age of 56.
Filming for Season 2 of The Wilds began a few weeks after Tarses’ passing but showrunner Amy B. Harris explained that the late producer, “would remain a part of the show she loved and helped so much as she will continue to be listed as an executive producer posthumously.”
Harris also gave an insight into the powerhouse that Tarses was,
“She wore high heel ankle boots every day even when we were scouting the most wild and treacherous terrains – beaches, tide pools, overgrown forests, climbing up a cliff,” Harris says. “She stomped right through them all no problem. It was a metaphor for who she was…”
Season 2’s emotional tribute explained
The Wilds Season 2, Episode 1 covers Day 30 for the Dawn of Eve and Day 1 for the Twilight of Adam. It begins on the girls’ side of the island, and we pick up on the cliffhanger that Season 1 left us on. Whereby Rachel was involved in a shark attack and Nora disappeared into the water. However, on the boys’ side of the island, we discover that one of the initial survivors doesn’t make it.
At the end of the episode, there was a dedication “For Our Beloved Jamie” before the credits. This was a heartwarming tribute to Jamie Tarses.
