How old is The Wall’s Sally Lindsay?
Born 1973, Sally Jane Lindsay is a 47-year-old theatre and television actress, and television presenter. Active in the business since 1999, Lindsay got her first taste of success when she was just seven years old.
She appeared on television with her school choir, during the release of There’s No One Quite Like Grandma in 1980-1. The single reached number one on the UK Singles Chart.
Lindsay studied English at the University of Hull, but changed tack after graduation. She later studied at North Cheshire Theatre School, and tried her hat at stand up comedy.
Is Sally Lindsay related to Peter Kay?
Sally Lindsay befriended fellow northern comedian Peter Kay when she was 24 years old. They are not related to one another.
Soon afterwards, she appeared in Kay’s sitcom Phoenix Nights. They also appeared together in Kay’s Comic Relief single Is This The Way to Amarillo? in 2005.

When was Sally Lindsay in Coronation Street?
Lindsay portrayed Shelley Unwin in the British ITV soap opera Coronation Street from 2001 to 2006.
She won the “Best Actress” category in the Inside Soap 2005 Awards. However, after playing Shelley for five years, Lindsay announced that she would be leaving Coronation Street at the end of her contract.
Why did Lindsay quit Coronation Street?
Lindsay decided to leave Coronation Street in order to pursue comedy projects.
The writers of the show factored Lindsay’s departure into Shelley’s storyline. Instead of marrying womaniser Charlie, Shelley leaves him at the alter.
Afterwards, she secures a new job for herself at a country club in the Peak District.
Lindsay has since worked with the likes of Martin Clunes, appeared in the Sky 1 comedy series Mount Pleasant, and in 2011 became a permanent panellist on Loose Women.
Sally Lindsay also voiced the character of Piella Bakewell in the 2008 BBC Wallace and Gromit film A Matter of Loaf and Death. The film aired on Christmas Day.
The show’s creator, Nick Park, allegedly handpicked Lindsay after hearing her voice on the radio.
