Is The Lincoln Lawyer based on a true story?

No, The Lincoln Lawyer is not based on a true story, but Mickey Haller is based on real-life attorney David Ogden.

Writer of the source material The Brass Verdict and of the Harry Bosch series, Michael Connelly was introduced to Ogden through a mutual friend.

Ogden worked from his car, just like Haller, and he even drove around in a Lincoln Towncar as well.

Additionally, Ogden was also chauffeured by Lonnie Henderson, a former client, and these are some of the details that Connelly used to create Mickey Haller.
