Channel 4’s Adult Material
Adult Material tells the story of Jolene Dollar, a mum-of-three who works as an actress in the adult entertainment industry. Jolene is played by actress Hayley Squires.
The show aims to display the brutal reality of the porn industry.
The storyline of the four-part miniseries starts with Jolene being introduced to a new girl in the industry, 19-year-old Amy, played by Siena Kelly.
The Channel 4 show was branded “dark and disturbing” following the first episode, which aired last night.
Siena Kelly as Amy in Adult Material
Amy is new to the porn industry after a recent injury ended her career as a dancer.
Her difficult first day in the industry is shown in the first episode and acts as a catalyst for a series of events that will play out in the miniseries.
Jolene feels particularly protective over Amy, who, at 19, is only a bit older than Jolene’s eldest daughter, Phoebe.
The central drama of the first episode – and presumably the rest of the miniseries – is that, though she looks out for Amy as best as she can, Jolene can’t protect the newcomer from herself and her own choices.
Where can you watch Adult Material?
