The Young And The Restless welcomed a new face this week as actor Sam McMurray joined the classic soap.
As fans will have seen, McMurray joined the show as Esther Valentine’s potential new love interest Dwight.

Sam McMurray cast as The Young And The Restless’ Dwight
Last week it was announced Sam McMurray had been cast to feature in classic long-running soap The Young And The Restless.
McMurray joined the soap’s cast as Dwight, a potential new love interest for Esther Valentine after they meet on a dating app.
He featured in last night’s episode, with his character getting on well with Esther despite her daughter Chloe spying on their date.

Get to know Sam McMurray
Sam McMurray, born 15 April 1952 in New York City, is a veteran in the world of acting. During his more than 40-year career he has featured in many notable TV shows and films, including Addams Family Values and ABC’s Scandal.
Some of McMurray’s other notable appearances include The Suite Life Of Zack And Cody, That ’70s Show, and Friends. He has also voiced roles in The Simpsons, Johnny Bravo, Rugrats and Hey Arnold!
Off-screen, the 70-year-old actor is married to Elizabeth Collins, with whom he has two children. As per her IMDb, Elizabeth has also worked in the entertainment industry and was part of the additional crew on Nineties films A Bronx Tale and Quiz Show.

McMurray’s Y&R feature isn’t first soap appearance
Soap fans may remember Sam McMurray got his start in the world of soaps in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Many may recognise him for his Ryan’s Hope character Wes Leonard, who featured in seven episodes of the soap in 1983. The actor also starred in seven episodes of The Edge Of Night in 1979, where he played Phil.
In an interview with We Love Soaps in 2011, McMurray revealed he also had a brief stint on The Doctors “towards the end of its run”. The Doctors first aired in 1963 and had an almost two-decade stint on TV before it left our screens in 1982.
McMurray also has a soap connection through his late stepmother Lesley Woods, who The Bold And The Beautiful fans will recognise as Grandma Helen Logan.
