Popular comedy sketch series Portlandia was removed from the Netflix catalogue on Thursday, 10 June 2021. Now fans of the show are curious to know where else is Portlandia streaming online.

What is Portlandia about?

Portlandia, which is set in Portland, Oregon, is a sketch comedy show featuring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, who are also the show’s co-creators.

The comedy series first aired in 2011 on cable channel IFC and has gone on to produce eight seasons before its final season aired in 2018.

Portlandia was available for fans to watch on Netflix, with it first added to the platform in 2011. However, ten years later, the show has been taken off the Netflix catalogue.

Where can I watch Portlandia?

With Portlandia no longer available to watch on Netflix, fans can watch season one of the show on Prime Video if you’re an Amazon Prime customer. The other seasons are also available to buy on the site.

Additionally, season eight can be streamed on IFC although it appears only a few episodes are available to watch.

Will there be another series?

While many loved the sketch comedy series it is unlikely there will be another as the eighth season was announced to be the show’s last by IFC president Jennifer Caserta in 2017.

At the time, she said: “It has been at the heart of our ‘slightly-off’ comedy programming strategy since its inception. But all good things must come to an end, and we very much look forward to season 8 or, as Bryce Shivers and Lisa Eversman might say, put a bird on it!”

Armisen has also spoken out on how, after eight seasons, it was the right time for Portlandia to end. He explained in 2018: “We wanted to end the show while we all loved doing it and we had good feelings about it.

“It just seemed like the right time. And also eight seasons is a lot. It’s a lifetime, it really is. So it was a very organic decision.”
