Peaky Blinders fans, ready yourselves: the new trailer is here.
For the past month, the BBC team have been teasing legions of Peaky Blinders fans with the trailer, sharing glimpses here and there of what’s to come. The highly-anticipated sixth and final season is set to air later this year, with a release date yet to be confirmed.
As of now, fans of the gangster period drama will have to relish in all the glory of the new trailer ahead of its release. The 90-second trailer released on New Year’s Day as a treat for fans. But one thing we are all wanting to know is who is the voice behind the trailer’s haunting soundtrack?
What song features in the Peaky Blinders series 6 trailer?
The haunting track used in the series 6 trailer is “Hunter (Hunted Version)” by British singer-songwriter Anna Calvi. The song was featured on Calvi’s 2020 project Hunted. This was a reworking of her 2018 album Hunter, from which the original song came.
This is not the first time Anna Calvi’s music has been featured in Peaky Blinders. In fact, her track “Strange Weather” with David Byrne, was used in the series 5 trailer.
Five other Anna Calvi songs were used in the fifth season of Peaky Blinders. Does this mean, then, that we can expect more of Anna on the sixth’s soundtrack?

What does the trailer tell us about the new season?
In the 90-second trailer, we see that the sixth season will continue exploring Tommy Shelby’s (Cillian Murphy) life as a politician. But he hasn’t ditched his gangster past entirely. The first few moments of the new trailer show Tommy firing a machine gun suggesting more explosive drama is on its way.
We also see that Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin) will be making a return, as with the rest of the Peaky Blinders – Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson), Michael Gray (Finn Cole), and Ada Shelby (Sophie Rundle).
Also returning to the series is Anya Taylor-Joy as Gina Gray, Michael’s American wife. Tom Hardy will also be reprising his role as Alfie Solomons. The late John Shelby’s wife Esme (played by Aimee-Ffion Edwards) will be returning to the show after an absence.
Joining the cast is BAFTA-nominated actor Stephen Graham, in a yet-to-be revealed role. We see Graham in the new Peaky Blinders trailer and his role has been previously teased. In another clip, we hear Graham saying “I hear there are some men here from Birmingham looking for me,” suggesting he is a potential adversary of the Shelbys.

Potential release date explored
Upon the new trailer’s release, the official Peaky Blinders Twitter account tweeted that season 6 would be “coming soon.” It will arrive on both BBC One and BBC iPlayer for viewers to stream.
Each season has been released towards the start of autumn, with season 1 premiering in September 2013 and the most recent series premiering in August 2019. The anomaly of this release schedule was season 3, which was released in May 2016.
As the account suggests the series is coming soon, it would be more likely that Peaky Blinders series 6 will get a spring or summer release.
