The streaming giant has expanded its selection of international projects as they have proved a hit with viewers. The latest one to land on Netflix is Chosen, which premiered yesterday (27 January 2022).
The series follows a 17-year-old girl who discovers an unrevealed truth about her own identity as she uncovers the mystery surrounding her quiet Danish town in which she has always felt an outsider. Let’s discover more about the lead actor from Netflix’s Chosen including her role and character.

Meet Malaika Berenth Mosendane
Malaika Berenth Mosendane was born on 25 January in Canada, although the year of her birth isn’t available online. That means she’s an Aquarius!
The Danish actor may be new to the industry but is a rising star to keep your eye on. She made her acting debut in Danish series The Sommerdahl Murders portraying a character called O. Mosendane appeared in two episodes of the show, which was released in 2020 and became an instant hit. The series follows a love triangle between Dan Sommerdahl, his wife Marianne and their best friend Flemming as they are tasked with solving recent killings in Helsingør.
However, Chosen will be the first time Mosendane will take on a leading role and she will surely amass a large following from it. She is already active on social media with more than 1,912 followers on Instagram.

Malaika Berenth Mosendane plays Emma in Netflix’s Chosen.
Mosendane stars alongside other talented young actors such as Andrea Heick Gadeberg. You may recognise Andrea as Mathilde from Danish movie Riders Of Justice. The movie was a great success and Andrea won the best actress accolade at the Danish Film Awards
Another talented cast member is Andreas Dittmer, who plays Frederick in one of Dittmer’s first major acting roles. However, he has appeared in many short films such as Natasja Jensen and Lidt Endnu.
The actor catching everyone’s eye is Albert Rudbeck Lindhardt, who plays Mads in Chosen. Lindhardt landed in the acting industry in 2011 and made his feature film debut in The Day Will Come in 2016. Later that year, he had his first major acting role in TV series The Other World but you may recognise him from productions such as Land of Glass, Habet, Bedrag and Collision.
Chosen is a sci-fi series set in a town made famous after a meteor crashed there 17 years ago. However, Emma finds out the meteor story is a lie and discovers the dangerous truth.
