Who is Rowan Atkinson’s girlfriend, Louise Ford? Atkinson revealed he doesn’t enjoy playing Mr Bean anymore and, yesterday, he spoke out against “cancel culture” and peppered his remarks with allusions to a Blackadder revival. With so much going on for the beloved actor, people are wondering what’s next for him and his girlfriend, Louise Ford.
Why is he no longer doing Mr Bean?
Mr Bean was Rowan Atkinson’s brainchild, a role he helped develop and which he embodied to international success between 1990-1995. Following this, Atkinson reprised the role a number of times, for movies, voice acting and skits.
In 2012, Atkinson told The Daily Telegraph: “Apart from the fact that your physical ability starts to decline, I also think someone in their 50s being childlike becomes a little sad”.
Since then he has gone on to revive Mr Bean (if only in voice) for an animated TV series that aired from 2002 to 2019. According to Metro, Atkinson is “poised to don the famous suit and tie for another big screen appearance, but hopes his time in the role is nearing its end.”
Who is Rowan Atkinson’s girlfriend, Louise Ford?
Atkinson’s girlfriend, Louise Ford, is herself a British comedian and actress, born in 1981. She is well known for her role as Dutchess Kate in The Windsors, a comedy shown on Channel 4.
Atkinson and Ford apparently started dating just weeks after the end of Atkinson’s marriage to longtime partner Sunetra Sastry. In turn, Ford dumped her then-boyfriend, comedian James Acaster, to be with Atkinson but had not told Acaster the reason for the split.
According to Daily Mail, Acaster said, “I got left for Mr Bean, I found out a year after we split up. I opened the newspaper and there was a full-page story.”
Louise Ford, who is nearly 3 decades younger than Rowan Atkinson, met the actor when they were working on a play together. In 2017, the couple welcomed daughter Isla together.
Atkinson had two more children – daughter Lily and son Ben – from his previous marriage to Sastry.
The news of Atkinson’s retiring the role of Mr Bean comes after he allegedly told friends: “I am going to take care of Baby Bean while Louise has the chance to concentrate on acting.”, says The Sun.
He turns 66 years old today, so happy birthday, Rowan Atkinson! (And happy retirement, Mr Bean!)
