FX’s American Crime Story: Impeachment focuses on Bill Clinton’s relationship with Monica Lewinsky. Featuring Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp, fans are wondering if Tripp really did get plastic surgery. Let’s take a look…

Linda Tripp rose to prominence in the media in 1998 when she revealed information about President Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky. Lewinsky was a former intern who had an affair with Clinton and she confided details to Tripp in 1996.

Tripp retrieved more than 22 hours of taped phone conversations with Lewinsky in which she can be heard sharing intimate details about her interactions with the president.

Did Linda Tripp have plastic surgery?

Yes, Tripp underwent many plastic surgery procedures, starting in late 1999. She told the National Enquirer she had a nose job, chin tuck, neck reduction, facial peel and liposuction performed by West Hollywood plastic surgeon Geoffrey Keyes.

She also lost 40lb in weight during her goal to lose 60ib overall. It remains unknown how much Tripp spent on plastic surgery, although one expert estimated the work would cost at least $30,000.

Why did she get plastic surgery?

Tripp admitted the reason she went under the knife was she wanted to look good for her upcoming wire-tap trial in Maryland. However, with the revelations and media intrusion, it seems she was bullied about her looks.

John Goodman’s Saturday Night Live impersonation of Tripp in 1990 is only one example of the media ridicule Tripp was subjected to. However, American Crime Story shows Linda watching the Saturday Night Live parody and has Linda saying she was bullied as a teenager while kids used to call her “Gus” after NBA player Gus Johnson.

Linda Tripp scandal explored

When asked about the scandal and whether she regretted speaking up, the real Linda Tripp told the Daily Mail in 2015: “I regret what I put my children through. I regret very much they had to endure that level of vitriol. But would I do it again? Yes.”

However, Monica Lewinsky seems to have put the past behind her. Hearing about Linda’s health problems before news of her death broke, she wrote: “No matter the past, on hearing Linda Tripp is very seriously ill, I hope for her recovery. I can’t imagine how difficult this is for her family.”
