General Hospital‘s Carly is one of the strongest characters on daytime TV right now, known for always standing up for what she believes. And her portrayer, Laura Wright, isn’t afraid to speak out after paying tribute to the victims of the horrific shooting in Uvalde, Texas, on 25 May.

Since 1963, General Hospital has had viewers hooked with complex storylines and a ton of drama. Wright is best known for her portrayal of Carly Corinthos on the show and has won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series.

Laura Wright was introduced on General Hospital in 1996 and has remained in the role since 2005. Laura Wright shared a post on her Instagram in tribute to the 19 children and two adults killed in the Uvalde mass shooting at Robb Elementary School on Tuesday (24 May).

Wright then proceeded to post tributes to the victims on her Insta-story, sharing photographs of the children and teachers who had died in the shooting.

Wright also reshared a post on her story of Warriors coach Steve Kerr’s moving speech from his press conference when he asked: “When are we going to do something?” in reference to gun laws in the US. A mass shooting took place at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday, 24 May. CBS News reports 18-year-old Salvador Ramos shot his grandmother before crashing his car into a ditch near the school at about 11.30am. Texas Department Of Public Safety spokesperson Chris Olivarez told CNN Ramos then forced his way into a fourth-grade classroom.

As police arrived at the scene, Ramos barricaded himself in a classroom where children were “shot and killed horrifically, incomprehensibly”, Texas governor Greg Abbott said. All 21 victims of the shooting – 19 children and two teachers – were found dead in the room.

A Border Patrol agent “rushed into the school without waiting for back-up and shot and killed the gunman, who was behind a barricade,” the Associated Press reported.

The Focus sends its thoughts and prayers to the families affected by the Uvalde shooting.
