Is Juan Williams retiring for good? As news breaks that The Five host is leaving Fox News, his viewers want to know if Williams is retiring or where he is going next.

On Wednesday 26 May 2021, Juan Williams announced his sudden departure from The Five on Fox News.

“This is my last day hosting The Five,” Williams said at the end of Wednesday’s broadcast.

Is Juan Williams retiring?

Juan Williams is not retiring from Fox News, but his role will shift in the foreseeable future.

Williams said of the changes: “As the show goes back to the New York studio, I’ll be staying in DC. I’ll be working for Fox out of Washington. My work as a Fox News political analyst will continue.”

It is thought that Juan Williams is to remain in Washington, following his diagnosis with Covid-19. Williams was diagnosed with Covid-19 months ago, forcing The Five on Fox News to return to remote filming. In his departure speech, Williams added, “Covid taught me a lot of lessons.”

Fox News speaks on Juan Williams leaving

Megan Albano, VP for The Five and Weekend Programming, said in a statement: ““As we started planning The Five’s return to its New York City studio at our headquarters a few months ago, Juan decided to stay in Washington, DC permanently.”

Albano continued: “We accommodated his request, understanding and appreciating his desire to remain closer to his family and recognizing that a remote co-hosting role on a roundtable in-studio program was not a long-term option.”

Who is replacing Juan Williams?

As of yet, a permanent replacement for Juan Williams on The Five has not been announced. It is thought that Williams’ spot will be taken up by various Fox News Liberal personalities until a replacement for Juan Williams is named.

The Five is dwindling down to ‘The Three’ what with Juan Williams’ departure. The show’s name is in reference to the number of Fox News panelists featured on the show each episode.

Currently, Dana Perino, Greg Gutfeld and Jesse Watters are the only permanent co-hosts on The Five. The fifth spot has always been filled by various Fox News or Fox Business personalities.

Some of the popular suggestions under Amy Tarkanian’s Twitter post are Harold Ford, Jr., Donna Brazile, and Jessica Tarlov.
