Is Yang dead? RWBY fans have their theories about episode 13’s “death” scene

Is Yang really dead? RWBY viewers are in shock after the thirteenth episode of volume 8.

The latest instalment of RWBY returned on 7 November 2020. Although the series took its regular Christmas break, the return was delayed due to the impact of Covid-19 restrictions in the United States.

Episode, or “Chapter,” 13 aired on Saturday 20 March 2021. This is your *spoiler alert* as we will go into details of Volume 8 Chapter 13.

Yang in RWBY

Yang Xiao Long is one of the four core characters of RWBY. The leads are Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Ruby’s half-sister Yang Xiao Long. Together, they form team RWBY (“ruby”).

Each girl represents a different colour corresponding to their name: Red, White, Black, Yellow.

Barbara Dunkelman, 31, provides the voice of Yang.

Is Yang dead?

In the latest episode, called “Worthy,” we saw Cinder and Neo attack Team RWBY and Penny.

When Neo tries to kill Ruby, Yang steps in and gets slashed before falling into the pit. But as we’ve learned, the pit doesn’t kill anyone. The leading fan theory is that Yang is not dead and will be somehow brought out of the portal by Raven.

One fan theorised: “So 1 of 2 things are gonna save yang. 1) Momma Raven portals her out to safety somewhere. 2) Ruby stares into the void with them big ol’ silver eyes.”

A Reddit user theorised: “Yang gone back in time and is actually “the girl who fell through the world”?”

The next episode is scheduled to air 27 March 2021, so we will have to wait and see what happens next. Until then, fans can sleep safely knowing that it’s unlikely Yang has actually died.
