Inside Y&R's Mel Ordway's picture-perfect family including 'best friend hubby'

The Young And The Restless star Melissa Ordway has shared a birthday photo dump in honor of her husband Justin Gaston, who she calls her “best friend.”

While the life of a soap opera star can be hectic, especially due to the chaos ensuing on Y&R at the moment, the actress always prioritizes her family and, when she isn’t on our TV screens playing Abby Newman, she’ll be spending time with her girls and Justin.

Let’s take a look inside Melissa Ordway’s picture-perfect world as they celebrated Justin Gaston’s 34th birthday milestone on August 12.

Inside Y&R’s Mel Ordway’s picture-perfect family

Melissa and her husband, actor and singer Justin Gaston, met at an audition for the movie Escapee. They ended up playing boyfriend and girlfriend and instantly hit it off.

Many will know Gaston for dating Miley Cyrus, the pair were linked as a couple in 2008 but split in 2009. Gaston also went on to appear in Taylor Swift’s music video for hit song Love Story.

However, Mel and Justin dated for one year before they got engaged and then, a year after in 2012, they tied the knot. In 2016 they adopted their first little girl, Olivia, and conceived second child, Sophie, whom Mel gave birth to in 2017.

Their daughters now look so grown up in the photos shared on Instagram, that’s because Olivia is now six years old and Sophie is four.

Mel gave an insight into how they want to raise their girls to Soaps In Depth. She said: “I had great examples with my parents and Justin had great examples, too, so we want to pass down that tradition. “I’m not going to say ‘Oh, marriage is always easy and we’re always happy.’ It’s not easy! But we want to show [their children] how much we love each other.”

The Y&R leading lady captioned the Instagram post: “Here’s a couple of pictures from this week that sum us up.” In the first two shots, she and Gaston are channelling their inner cowboy as they spend time on a ranch.

In the next picture, Justin and his girls gaze into the sunset then, in a final snap, the whole family stand in front of the sea holding hands and smiling.

“You are the funniest guy I know,” Ordway wrote in the caption. “My best friend. The greatest dad to our girls. We love you so much!”

Gaston replied in the comments: “Love you!” He also jested he loves the shirt he sports in every picture.
