Ordway’s Instagram followers will know that being a mother is a very important role to the actress, as it is for her Y&R character, Abby. The actress is a mother to her two daughters, Olivia and Sophie, and three adorable puppies, Lily, Teddy, and Riley.

Melissa has shared an adorable image of her two little girls on their first pumpkin patch family day out. In the image, her daughters are making funny faces at the camera as they pretend to scare their mom. The sisters are sitting on hay bales at a pumpkin farm ready to pick out the biggest ones to carve a spooky face into.

Ordway and her gang are already getting into the fall festivities as she recently posted a photo of a beautifully decorated gingerbread house. In the caption, she wrote: “When you’re at @traderjoes and you’re ready for fall” Whilst a gingerbread house may typically be associated with Christmas, this gingerbread house had a Halloween twist on it as it is called a “Haunted Halloween house gingerbread kit.”

Melissa loves celebrating Halloween and often dresses up with her family every October 31. Fans can’t wait to see what the family is planning to go as this year…

Inside Mel Ordway’s life as an actor

It all began for Mel In 2004 when she was attending Georgia State University and got selected to appear on an MTV reality competition show called The Assistant. Ordway was the winner of the first and only season of the show and received a cell phone package, a new wardrobe from American Eagle Outfitters, a car, and an entry-level job at MTV. During her time at MTV, she decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams of being a model and an actress.

Ordway’s first major acting part was the recurring role of Jordanna on Privileged and her feature film debut was in 17 Again. In 2011, she co-starred in Escapee and appeared in her fan-favorite film, Ted.

Then, in March 2013, Ordway was cast in the role of Abby Newman on the CBS soap opera Y&R, replacing the previous actress Marcy Rylan. The actress has been recognized for her talent as she was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the 2022 Emmys. Sadly, she could not attend the awards ceremony, due to a positive COVID test.

Melissa’s family life away from Y&R

Melissa and her husband, actor, and singer Justin Gaston, met at an audition for the movie Escapee. They ended up playing boyfriend and girlfriend in the film and instantly hit it off. Mel and Justin dated for one year before they got engaged and then, a year after in 2012, they tied the knot.

In May 2016 they adopted their first little girl, Olivia, and conceived a second child, Sophie, whom Mel gave birth to in 2017. Olivia is now six years old and Sophie is four and the girls are looking so grown up in recent photos shared on Instagram, as the family visit Disneyland.
