How old is Rue in Euphoria season 2?
Rue is 17 years old in season 2 of Euphoria.
This is confirmed by the official synopsis for Euphoria season 2, which reveals: “Amid the intertwining lives in the town of East Highland, 17-year-old Rue must find hope while balancing the pressures of love, loss and addiction.”
Zendaya is currently 25 years old, meaning she is playing a character eight years younger than herself. Many have commented on dark aspects of the show, with some viewers thinking Rue is too young to be dealing with such intense situations.
However, the show displays the realities of many teen struggles, with writer Sam Levinson keen to tell truths through his productions. The show also touches on friendships, love, social media and school as the group of teenagers approach their varying problems and collaboratively establish their identity.
What has Zendaya said about the show?
The series takes a deep dive into Rue’s drug addiction, and personal and emotional struggles. The serious topics are often so deep Zendaya issued trigger warnings to her fans as the new season of Euphoria was released.
She said the new season contained even more “subject matters that can be triggering and difficult to watch” than the previous season.
Zendaya wrote on Twitter: “I know I’ve said this before, but I do want to reiterate to everyone that Euphoria is for mature audiences. This season, maybe even more so than the last, is deeply emotional and deals with subject matter that can be triggering and difficult to watch.
“Please only watch it if you feel comfortable. Take care of yourself and know that, either way, you are still loved and I can still feel your support.”

Zendaya’s character explored
Rue serves as our narrator throughout the series and gives audiences a get-to-know on all the characters.
In the final moments of the last season, the tense finale sees Jules deciding to start a new life and escape town to start afresh. However, Rue changes her mind at the last minute and Jules’ departure soon results in Rue returning to bad habits.
The show airs in the US on Sundays with the new episode becoming available to stream in the UK on NOW the next day.
