Dr Monica Quartermaine was originated in 1976 by actress Patsy Rahn. Leslie Charleson took over on 17 August 1977 and remains one of the longest-running cast members on the show. Monica was the Chief of Staff at General Hospital and the owner of the Quartermaine mansion. She had many affairs and had a rocky relationship with her husband Alan. This made up most of her storylines throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
Another storyline that Monica got tangled up in was when she had a battle with breast cancer. She has had some tough times on the show and her character has even dealt with the loss of three of her children. I did not want you to find out on the Internet. Unfortunately, that did not happen and yes, it is true. I am officially off contract.”
