Nick and Colin Barnicle, aka the Barnicle Brothers, are the directors of This Is a Robbery, which premiered today on Netflix. Are Nick and Colin Barnicle the children of award-winning journalist Mike Barnicle?

Who are Nick and Colin Barnicle?

Nick Barnicle has 32 producing credits on IMDB, many of which are shared with his brother Colin. These include documentaries Billy Joel: New York State of Mind and The Hobby: Collecting America’s Pastime.

In 2017 alone, the pair produced more than a dozen shorts.

Colin and Nick Barnicle frequently produce together. Together, they form Barnicle Brothers, “an Emmy award winning sports and entertainment company”.

Their client list includes Netflix, ESPN, NFL and Legendary, among others.

This Is a Robbery on Netflix

In the days and weeks leading up to the release of This Is a Robbery via streaming platform Netflix, both Nick and Colin Barnicle have been actively promoting the documentary on Twitter.

Their professional Barnicle Brothers account announced that This Is a Robbery has officially premiered, one hour ago.

What is it about?

This Is a Robbery: The World’s Greatest Art Heist runs at 3h 30min in total.

The documentary investigates the theft of 13 works of art from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, in 1990.

Split into four parts, each episode examines a different aspect of the story.

Are the Barnicle brothers related to journalist Mike Barnicle?

Mike Barnicle has four adult children. 

However, while his partner, vice chair of Bank of America Anne Finucane, has talked about their children before, little information is available online about their names or occupations.

So, while MarriedDivorce lists Mike Barnicle’s one child as Nicholas Michael Barnicle (he actually has four), he hasn’t revealed much more information about his family or personal life.
