Y&R actors come together for Catfish Christmas
Two actors from The Young And The Restless will now share the screen and Y&R star Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla Winters) is set to direct them in her film Catfish Christmas. Rowel shared the announcement on Twitter, revealing that the 2023 film will also star “legendary” actor Ella Joyce.
Catfish Christmas is the second time Rowell has directed Ann Rose in a movie, and the first, Blackjack Christmas, was so successful that they are ready to team up for round two. Blackjack Christmas, wrapped up filming at the start of this year and it was shot over 11 days in Jamaica. It has a host of acting talents including Oliver Samuels, Fae Ellington, Charmin Lee and Dawnn Lewis.
Three Y&R actors from different generations
Before getting into directing Rowell was known in front of the camera and landed a long-standing role as Drucilla Winters in the soap opera The Young And The Restless. She featured on the show from 1993 to 1998 and 2003 to 2007. More recently, the actor has created, directed and starred in The Rich and the Ruthless, and directed Jacqueline and Jilly, A Rich Christmas, and BET Her Presents: The Couch.
Leigh-Ann Rose joined the cast of Y&R during the pandemic, in 2020. However, she had a lot of experience in television and her previous credits include Love Thy Neighbor, Younger, and Famous Farrah. She has also starred in the TV films The Finest, Suburban Swingers Club, and Baking Christmas.
Tony Todd is known to soap fans as Tyler and Leslie’s dad, Gus Rogan, as he starred on Y&R in 2013. His most famous role is arguably in the 1992 horror film Candyman.
We can’t wait to watch this movie full of Genoa City folks, especially as Amanda’s “little sis” is starring in the film. Mishael Morgan, recently became the first Black actor to win the Lead category for her portrayal of Amanda. Rowell took to Twitter with Leigh-Ann Rose to congratulate their fellow soap star.
