Cameron Mathison has taken a trip down memory lane as he reminisces on the joys of Fatherhood after sharing how ‘spoiled’ he felt on Father’s Day.
You may know Mathison as the long-time host of Hallmark’s Home & Family but soap fans know him best as Drew from General Hospital. Despite his successful career and busy schedule he always seems to prioritise time for his family.
Let’s take a look at what Cameron Mathison has to say about family life as he has been married for 20 years now and is a doting father to two teenage kids.

On Fathering Sunday, Mathison shared a throwback snap with his kids, captioning the post: “Getting spoiled today😍Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there🙏🏼#happyfathersday#enjoyeverysecond#dadlife“
The loving couple often shares their love for the family on social media. However, Mathison made sure not to forget about his dad on Father’s Day, sharing a photo dump of memories with his elder, William Mathison.
“Dad, you’ve taught me so much about becoming the dad I want to be. Showing me, by example, how important it is to be loving, kind, present, fun, hard working, compassionate and supportive.
Happy Father’s Day dad🙏🏼❤️#happyfathersday#dad“
On Mother’s day, Cameron’s wife Vanessa also took to Instagram to share a picture of herself and her kids playing with elephants. In the caption, she thanked her kids for showing her the world through their eyes and choosing her to be their mommy.
The role of being a Dad is very rewarding for Mathison as he shared in one of his Instagram posts, writing: “Nothing in the world is more important to me than being a dad to Lucas and Leila. It’s the thing I’m most proud of, the thing that brings the most meaning to my life, and it’s the thing that’s changed me the most in a positive way.”
In 2019, Cameron Mathison announced he had been diagnosed with kidney cancer and had surgery to remove a tumour. Thankfully, after the actor had his tumour removed, it was discovered that the cancer hadn’t spread so he didn’t have to go through chemotherapy or radiation.
The family also enjoys going on trips together, with one of their most recent family vacations being to Greece. He called the trip “truly unforgettable” and uses their holiday time for family bonding. He claims that although the photos are amazing, the memories and deepened connections are what trips are really all about. In a separate post from the holiday, he notes that having two teenagers with busy social schedules makes it hard to slow down and connect but that trips like this make it possible.
To conclude, Mathison wrote, “Until our next adventure Leila, Lucas and Vanessa”.
On Mother’s Day, Cameron often shares his gratitude towards his wife calling her a ‘superhero.’ He also takes this day to honour his mom, who battled brain cancer during the pandemic after she was diagnosed in January 2020. Sadly, she passed away in October 2021 which Mathison announced on Instagram as he wrote in the tribute: “You were the centre of our family with so much love and devotion for all of us.”
Mathison posts hilarious throwback photos of his kids on their birthdays. What a fantastic birthday surprise, your dad sharing embarrassing pictures to their 250,000 followers, right?
