Where is the ‘All That Work And What Did It Get Me’ TikTok song from?
A new trend is taking over TikTok called ‘All That Work And What Did It Get Me’ and many are wondering where the song comes from.

‘All That Work And What Did It Get Me’
The trend sees people sharing a situation where they did loads of hard work but it didn’t get them anywhere, so they regret going to all that effort.
For example, one viral video says: “When you actually paid attention this time and you end up with the same grade.”
“Practicing my sport for 14 gruelling years for it to just end of a random Sunday and never playing again,” says another.
A third video adds: “When I watch eight seasons of a show for it to end horribly.”
TikTok users are playing the line ‘All That Work And What Did It Get Me’ while slowly moving the camera around their faces.
Where is the viral TikTok song from?
The TikTok sound is from the TV show Glee, which follows an optimistic high-school teacher who tries to transform the school’s choir club. It’s a song called Rose’s Turn which is from the musicalGypsy, loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of striptease artist Gypsy Rose Lee.
Rose’s Turn was originally sung on Broadway by Ethel Merman and was famously also performed by Betty Midler. However, Glee covered the tune in episode 18 of the first series, and that’s the version which has gone viral on TikTok.
It’s sung by Kurt Hummel, who becomes frustrated that his father is spending more time withFinn Hudson and expresses his anger with the performance. However, Burt Hummel overhears him singing and reassures Kurt that his father still loves him.
