TikTok’s ‘Book Boyfriend’ trend

The TikTok challenge sees girls asking their partner to lean up against a door frame in a sexy way to see what they will do.

It’s called the ‘Book Boyfriend’ trend because it’s something that’s often seen in books, with authors writing “he leant against the door frame”.

To pass the test, the man must do something romantic towards his girlfriend like kiss her or put his arm around her waist.

This is the sort of romance that is rife in fiction and the challenge tests how romantic your boyfriend really is deep down.

Boyfriend’s reaction makes girl squeal

In one viral video which has had millions of views, a girl asks: “Do you know how in books when they talk about leaning over the door frame?”

“No, I don’t read those types of books,” her boyfriend replies, so she shows him exactly how it’s done and then asks him to give it a go.

He is really awkward at first and doesn’t know what to do, saying: “I’m leaning on a door frame, how is that sexy?”

After a lot of laughs, he leans against the wall and places his arm around his girlfriend romantically like you see in the movies.

It makes her squeal and she screams “This is everything!” as he grabs her waist sexily as if he is in a romance novel.

BookTok is taking over TikTok

BookTok videos are taking over the platform, with more and more creators making videos about the fiction they read.

This includes reviewing, discussing, and joking about all kinds of genres, but the most popular are young adult fiction, fantasy and romance.

The community was formed in 2020 at the start of the pandemic and videos with the hashtag #BookTok had been viewed over 200 billion times as of November 2023.

It has even boosted the sale of books across the world, with novels finding their way onto The New York Times Bestseller list because of TikTok.

Many Barnes and Noble stores across the US also now have BookTok displays, featuring popular reads on the app.
