TikTok’s ‘Birthmark Theory’ makes eerie prediction about your past life

An idea is flooding TikTok called ‘Birthmark Theory’ as it makes a creepy prediction about your past life. If you have a birthmark somewhere on your body, it could say a lot more about your history than you realise.

TikTok’s eerie ‘Birthmark Theory’

The theory revolves around reincarnation and says that your birthmark reveals the way you died in your past life. For example, a mark on your leg could mean you were shot there, or one on your back might mean you were in a fire.

It stems from the Hindu and Buddhist belief that a dead person’s spirit returns to life in another body and has been circling social media for years. However, it’s gone viral on TikTok this month thanks to one video which mimics a conversation between two women.

“Wow you have a lot of birthmarks… that must have been a painful death,” the first says, to which the other replies: “What are you talking about?”

“Oh it’s the birthmark theory that states your birthmark indicates where you were burned, shot or speared in your past life,” she explains.

The TikTok video cites an eerie study by the Department of Psychiatric Medicine at the University of Virginia, which backs the birthmark theory up.

In 1993, Ian Stevenson found a link between birthmarks on young children and wounds on deceased people.

“35% of children who claim to remember previous lives have birthmarks and/or birth defects that they (or adult informants) attribute to wounds on a person whose life the child remembers,” the report says.

210 children were investigated, and many of them identified a real deceased person whose details “unmistakably matched the child’s statements”.

Many of the children had a birthmark in the same place as a wound on the dead person, and there was no evidence of falsification.

The 1993 report concluded that “some paranormal process seems required” to account for this strange phenomenon.

TikTok users share birthmarks

In the comments, TikTok users are revealing how they think they died in their past life.

One person wrote: “My birth mark looks like I was bitten by a snake.”

“I firmly believe in one of my past lives, I was shot in the throat. My birthmark is there,” said another.

A third person added: “I have a birthmark on my back that looks like a blood splatter, and I’ve dreamed about getting stabbed on my back by a man and dying.”

“I don’t have a birthmark. This must be my first life,” someone else said.

Others are sharing a much nicer theory which says birthmarks are actually the place where your past love kissed you. Let’s hope that one’s true!
