The best TikTok trends, challenges and dances of 2024 so far
The year 2024 is well underway and the year has already had its fair share of TikTok trends, challenges and dances.
From a funny relationship test to a drink to help you sleep and putting bows on everything, here are all the best trends from TikTok so far.

1. The Ketchup Test
First up is a hilarious challenge that reveals how domesticated your partner is. Women are squeezing ketchup on the counter and asking their husbands or boyfriends to clean it up – and most men are failing miserably at the seemingly simple task. Instead of grabbing some cleaning spray and a wet cloth, they’re using a dry piece of paper towel which smears the sauce everywhere!
2. ‘Of Course’ Challenge
Next, we have the ‘Of Course’ trend, which sees people poking fun at common stereotypes associated with their life. You start by saying the scenario, like ‘I’m a cop’ or ‘I’m a sister’ before listing all the perceptions about yourself. Kim Kardashian even gave this one a go, taking everyone inside her glamorous home with magazine covers all over her walls and a tanning bed in her office.
3. Sleepy Girl Mocktail
One of this year’s most popular TikTok trends is the Sleepy Girl Mocktail, a drink that’s supposed to make you extra tired before bed and give you the best night’s sleep of your life. It’s made up of tart cherry juice, magnesium powder and soda water, which makes a dark red beverage that people are drinking half an hour before bed.
4. ‘Yes and?’ Dance
Ariana Grande’s brand new track Yes, and? has prompted a viral TikTok dance this year. People are copying the routine she does in the music video, and some are even wearing her outfit too – a black miniskirt and cap. The track was released on January 12 and is the lead single from her upcoming seventh studio album Eternal Sunshine.
5. Coquette Trend
The coquette trend has been circling the app for years and went mega-viral at the end of 2023, but it’s carried on into 2024 with full force. The aesthetic involves being really girly, wearing pink and accessorising with cute bows. People are putting bows on literally anything from wine glasses to chairs and even bunnies!
6. Throwing Slushies
This one had to make the cut because it’s just so random. People across the US are heading to the gas station, buying a slushie and throwing the entire thing, including the cup, at their truck. Why? Well, it’s just a way for motorheads to show off their pickups, and it got so bad that gas stations had to start putting up ‘do not throw slushies’ signs.
7. ‘Cha Cha’ Dance
Zeddy Will’s Cha Cha is another one of 2024’s viral TikTok dances, a funny routine that involves wiggling your body and stepping in time with the music. The track was released in 2023 and is getting stuck in everyone’s heads with the catchy chorus: “Y’all don’t like to dance? Come on, do the cha-cha/ Shawty Spanish so she like to call me, papa.”
Which one are you going to try?
