How to use ‘Flipside’ as Instagram launches new ‘finsta’ feature
A brand new Instagram feature has just launched on many accounts called ‘Flipside’, a new way to share content with only your closest friends.
What is ‘Flipside’ on Instagram?
Flipside is a new Instagram feature which lets you create a second profile that’s only visible to a select group of people that you choose. It takes the Close Friends feature one step further, essentially creating another whole account that’s separate from your normal one.
“Be yourself with a new space just for you and your friends,” Instagram says. “Only the people you choose can see this side of your profile.”

You can share posts and Stories as normal on your Flipside, but followers who aren’t added to the group won’t be able to see them.
It’s a more intimate way to interact with the people who mean most to you without having to create a ‘finsta’, a nickname for a new account users make to post images and interact with certain people in a more private way.
How to use ‘Flipside’
Flipside is currently in its testing phase so it has only been applied to some accounts. You can only use the feature if you have been selected as part of the test right now, but it is likely to be made available to everyone in the future if popular.
If your account is part of the test, you will get a pop-up that says “Welcome to Flipside” with a key symbol. To use it, you need to tap “Add your friends” and select the users you want to be part of your Flipside.
After that, tap ‘Create’ to share a new post that will only be visible to the people you selected. It will look like a normal post, but a black key will appear at the top which shows it has only been shared with those select few.
If you click “Go to your Flipside,” you are then prompted to set up a whole new profile that will only be visible to those people, including a name, bio and profile picture. This can be edited at any time, as can the list of friends.
Quickly switch between accounts
To switch between your normal account and Flipside, all you have to do is tap the big key symbol in the bottom-right, or chnage the audience when sharing a new post.
After you’ve uploaded a photo or video from your camera roll and clicked ‘Next’, navigate to the ‘Audience’ section.
Click on this and you’ll be able to choose whether you want to share the post with your Flipside or all of your Instagram your followers.
