TikTok adds files to your cache every time you do things on the app like watching videos, reposting and visiting profiles, which can consume a lot of storage over time.
How to clear your cache on TikTok
This storage can easily be cleared by clearing your cache.
- Go to your profile
- Click on the three lines (0)
- Tap ‘Settings and privacy’
- Scroll down to ‘Free up space’
- Click on ‘Clear’ next to ‘Cache’

TikTok users started freaking out this week after videos emerged claiming that every video you repost takes up loads of storage.
“Me laughing at a TikTok and then remembering it takes storage to repost,” one clip which has had more than 2.4 million views says.
Another adds: “I just found out that reposting a bunch of videos takes up storage.”
Someone commented “YOU’RE JOKING RIGHT?” while another wrote: “Bro you’ve got to be kidding me.”
Another TikTok user said they have reposted around 30,000 videos in total and feared how much storage this will have taken up.
