Does reposting videos on TikTok actually take up storage?
TikTok users are freaking out over claims that reposting videos takes up storage on your device – but is it true?

Does reposting on TikTok take up storage?
Reposting videos on TikTok does not directly take up storage. However, it does contribute to your cache which will gradually increase the amount taken up.
Cache is a storage system that temporarily saves data to make the app run smoother and faster in the future.
This means that TikTok doesn’t have to fetch this date from the server every time. It already has the information on your device, so can display it faster.
TikTok adds files to your cache every time you do things on the app like watching videos, reposting and visiting profiles, which can consume a lot of storage over time.
How to clear your cache on TikTok
This storage can easily be cleared by clearing your cache.
- Go to your profile
- Click on the three lines (0)
- Tap ‘Settings and privacy’
- Scroll down to ‘Free up space’
- Click on ‘Clear’ next to ‘Cache’
There, you can also clear all storage taken up by downloads and manage your drafts.Clearing the TikTok cache will remove your login information and search history.

Someone commented “YOU’RE JOKING RIGHT?” while another wrote: “Bro you’ve got to be kidding me.”
