Creative Blurry Wedding Photos trend that’s ‘taken over the globe’ is here to stay
It’s up to each individual how they wish to remember their wedding, and it seems a lot of couples are leaning towards blurry photos from their big day, which has turned into a trend – or should we call it a fad?

Yes, blurry wedding photos are a full-fledged trend
2023 saw a rise in demand for blurry wedding photos, so much so that it became a big trend as more and more couples choose to remember the special occasion unconventionally.
As the name suggests, the challenge involves capturing special moments defining a wedding using blurry images that aren’t created accidentally, but are a result of well-thought-out techniques.
A lot of couples on TikTok are flaunting unclear images from their wedding day, usually depicted in black and white hues. The challenge has caused a major division among social media users.
Not everyone is on board with the idea of preserving moments from their wedding day in the form of blurry images, while experts argue that the lack of clarity adds to its aesthetics. It highlights a memory for what it was, in its true form, thus capturing reality as is.
One photographer’s justification of the artistic trend has accumulated more than 4,00,000 views as she encourages her clients to be a part of the trend.
In an interview with Peta Pixel, photographer Asantae Haanstad said: “I personally love blurry photos as they show movement and make you feel as though you are there in that moment.”
I think that blurry photos are a great way to provide variety in your gallery and images that you provide to a client. They have become more popular this year and I am consistently having clients request them as they find them unique and beautiful,” she added.
Users are divided over the creative practice
The blurry wedding photos trend is relatively new, so not everybody fully understands the reason behind their unclear appearance.
Those inclined to capture moments of their wedding with conventional photography ascribe the trend-defining blurry images to poor techniques, while others in support of the fad think it has “taken over the globe.”
One TikTok user commented: “I would be so mad if I got my wedding pictures back and they were blurry.”
“Theyre cute. Like no ones saying that all photos should be blurry. Plus, theres a difference between blurry photos that look good and ones that just dont,” wrote another.
Another use wrote: “Theres an artistry to the perfect blur!”
Whether you like it or not, the blurry wedding photo is here to stay.
