Bianca Andreescu announces split from coach

On Tuesday, 8 June, Bianca Andreescu announced she had split from her coach.

The world number seven missed 15 months of tennis recently after a knee injury.

She crashed out of the French Open in the first week, losing 6-7(1) 7-6(2) 9-7 to Slovenia’s Tamara Zidansek.

Who is Bianca Andreescu’s coach, Sylvain Bruneau?

Andreeescu’s former coach is Sylvain Bruneau.

They had worked together for four years and Bruneau helped Andreescu break through to three tournament wins in 2019, including the US Open.

Bruneau is a former Canadian Fed Cup captain. He gave a famous pep talk during a timeout that made headlines in Andreescu’s first tournament title win in Indian Wells.

Bruneau started his coaching career at various clubs in Canada.

He joined a junior programme before coming to the attention of Tennis Quebec and, later, Tennis Canada.

As well as being Canadian Fed Cup captain, Bruneau was also head coach of Team Canada’s national women’s team, which included Eugenie Bouchard.
