Tomorrow (Thursday 8 July) sees Karolina Pliskova take on fellow tennis champion Aryna Sabalenka in the Wimbledon ladies’ singles semi-finals. Ahead of the match, some are curious to know more about the tennis star’s life off the court as well as Karolina Pliskova’s husband, Michal.

Who is Karolina Pliskova?

Karolina Pliskova, who was born on 21 March 1992, is a tennis player from Louny, Czech Republic. She is a former world number 1 in singles with a current WTA singles ranking of 13.

Following a successful run at Wimbledon 2021, Pliskova is set to go against Aryna Sabalenka tomorrow (Thursday, 8 July) in the ladies’ singles semi-final.

Talking of reaching the latter stages of the competition, Pliskova said: “It means a lot, of course. Especially after not really having many good weeks before Wimbledon, it feels like a dream.”

Who is Karolina Pliskova’s husband, Michal?

Karolina Pliskova’s husband Michal Hrdlička is a TV presenter and sports commenter who regularly appears on the O2 TV Sports channel.

As he is known for his love of sports, Hrdlička often shares behind-the-scenes shots of his role with his followers on Instagram.

Karolina Pliskova and Michal Hrdlička announced their engagement during a press conference at the 2017 US Open. After a reporter noticed a ring on her finger, Pliskova confirmed she was engaged.

The couple married in 2018 and have regularly featured their relationship with followers on their Instagram.

How did they meet?

Karolina Pliskova and Michal Hrdlička revealed how they first crossed paths while talking to Outside The Ball in 2018.

At the time, Pliskova revealed they first met while on a night out when she was celebrating her win at the Fed Cup in 2015.

The tennis player admitted it wasn’t love at first sight, but after they got to know each other, she fell in love with his humour.

When asked whether she thought he was cute, she joked: “On TV, yes, but in the club, I didn’t like him so much.”
