Michael Collins was married to his wife Patricia M. Finnegan for 57 years until her death in 2014.
The couple first crossed paths at an airbase in France, where Patricia worked at the time, and later married in 1957.
In 2019, Collins paid tribute to his late wife in the preface to his 50th-anniversary edition of his memoir Carrying The Fire.

While reflecting on the past decade, he gushed: “Old friends, John Young and Neil Armstrong, have died, and my life has changed with the death of my wife, Patricia Mary Finnegan Collins, after fifty-seven years of marriage.
“I miss her dearly and daily. My beautiful and competent daughters, Kate and Ann, help me fill the void.”
The book also features a poem Patricia wrote to Michael before he and his fellow astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin started their journey to the moon.
She penned: “Take my silence, though intended. Fill it with the joy you feel. Take my courage, now pretended. You, my love, will make it real.”

Who are Michael Collins’ children?
Collins and his wife Patricia had three children together – daughters Kathleen and Ann and son Michael Jr.
Their eldest daughter Kathleen, known to many as Kate, is an actress best known for starring in the ABC soap opera All My Children.
Her role in the series saw Kate nominated for Outstanding Villain/Villainess at the Soap Opera Digest Award three times.
Unlike Kate, Ann and Michael Jr have stayed away from the spotlight. Ann, however, has previously given interviews on her father and her support of his projects.

Michael Collins’ children announced his death in a statement on his Twitter, yesterday 28 April 2021. It read: “We regret to share that our beloved father and grandfather passed away today, after a valiant battle with cancer.”
Paying tribute to their father, they added: “We will miss him terribly. Yet we also know how lucky Mike felt to have lived the life he did. We will honour his wish for us to celebrate, not to mourn, that life.”
