Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to praise Joe Willock after another encouraging performance by the youngster in last night’s Europa League victory over Molde.

Since making his first-team debut in 2017, the 21-year-old has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter. He made 29 appearances in the Premier League last season. However, he appeared to have slipped down the pecking order in recent months.

He has yet to play a single minute in the league during the current campaign. However, he continues to impress when given opportunities in Europe.

Willock flourishing in Europe

After a goal and assist in last week’s 3-0 cruise over Dundalk, Willock stood out again at home to the Norwegians. The midfielder scored as Arsenal came from behind to record a 4-1 victory.

With Mikel Arteta handing starts to a number of fringe players, Willock arguably produced the most pleasing display.

Here’s how some Arsenal fans reacted to the youngster’s performance on Twitter.

Midfield options

Competition for places remains fierce at Arsenal. The north London club bolstered its midfield options last month by bringing in Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid.

The Ghanaian holding midfielder has already made a big impact. He isn’t the only one getting the plaudits, however. Mohamed Elneny has also delivered dominant displays in the middle of the park.

Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos are also in the mix. It means Willock has his work cut out if he is to force his way into Arteta’s domestic plans.

Willock pushing for Premier League place

Yet Willock is unlikely to be ignored for much longer if he continues his current form.

He will hope to force his way into the squad for Sunday’s game against Aston Villa.

The Gunners have already lost three times in the league this season. However, after beating Manchester United last weekend they are looking up the table ahead of the international break.
