No.15 St Peter’s have caused the biggest upsets of this year’s NCAA tournament by beating No.2 seed Kentucky, No.7 Murray State, and No.3 Purdue. St Peter’s, a private Jesuit university in Jersey City, New Jersey, is competing in only its fourth NCAA tournament and will now face No.8 UNC in the Elite Eight.
After their incredible wins, fans want to know more about head coach Shaheen Holloway, his wife Kim, and their family.
His career so far
45-year-old Shaheen Holloway is a former three-time All-Big East point guard who played for Seton Hall from 1996 to 2000. Before playing at Seton Hall, he was the 1996 McDonald’s All-American game MVP.
His senior season at Seton Hall was his best and he was part of the team that reached the 2000 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
He finished his career at Seton Hall with 1,588 career points and is to this day the school’s all-time assist leader with 681.
Holloway was eligible for the 2000 NBA Draft but went undrafted. He was invited to the 2000 Summer League by the New York Knicks and the Washington Wizards but wasn’t offered a contract. Nevertheless, he enjoyed a decent career overseas, playing in Israel, Dominican Republic, Germany, Israel, Turkey and the UK, as well as the US.
He moved into coaching in 2007 when he was assistant coach at Iona for three years. Holloway returned to Seton Hall for eight years before being appointed St Peter’s head coach in 2018.

Shaheen Holloway’s wife is Kim Holloway, who he has been with for many years. Holloway and his wife have two sons – Xavier and Tyler.
Shaheen also has a daughter, Shatanik, from a previous relationship when he was much younger. Kim Holloway is the stepmom of Shatanik and it is thought they all live together.
Speaking about having Shatanik at 15 years of age, Shaheen told The New York Post: “I had a lot of family members there to help, but it was like a kid raising a kid.”
Neither Shaheen nor Kim have social media as the family prefer to keep their private life out of the spotlight. However, Kim Holloway was in attendance at the Murray State game where she was visibly emotional at the final whistle.

Speaking about being a father, Shaheen said: “It keeps me on my toes. My son Xavier is nine. I try to help him become a good player.” His other son, Tyson, recently turned two.
